Making home brew has been a very satisfying pastime for many a beer drinker for many years. In recent years it has become easier and easier to make beer in the comfort of your own home. Home brew starter kits and ingredients are now available online, in specialist stores and even in some high street supermarkets.

First-time home brewers would be well recommended to purchase a kit from one of the many places where they can be found. There are various types of starter kits usually ranging from about 20 for the most basic.

When purchasing a starter kit for making your home brew, you should ensure that it has at least the following items: a fermentation bucket, something to extract the beer from the fermentation bucket i.e. a syphoning tube and of course the key ingredients of the brew: yeast and malt extract. Sometimes you will get sugar provided but the cheaper the kit, the more you’ll have to buy. You will of course need some receptacle to store it in.

To prepare your brew, it is first necessary to mix your ingredients in the fermentation bucket: malt extract mixed with hot water and the sugar. Then you will need to add up to another 19 litres of cold water and to allow the mixture to come to somewhere near room temperature before adding the yeast. Add your yeast and then it will take up to 6 days to transform the sugar to alcohol.

After this first process is finished, it will be time to bottle your beer (or to put it in a pressurised barrel). It will need to be primed with enough sugar so that gas can be formed from the remaining yeast, but not so much that too much gas will be produced, usually about teaspoon per litre. After bottling, you wait another 2 weeks and you should have the perfect brew.

There is much pressure facing the Government to reduce the legal blood alcohol limit for drivers. The current limit is 80mg per 100ml of blood which would allow the consumption of roughly a pint and a half of medium strength lager for an average sized man. The proposed limit would bring it down to 50mg per 100ml of blood is less than an average pint or a large glass of wine but would match the legal limit in the European Union.

Currently anyone caught driving over the legal limit faces an automatic 12 month driving ban but Sir Peter North QC is currently reviewing the case to introduce a lesser penalty for a lower limit such as 6 points on a driving licence. Changes could also see prosecutions for drivers found with illegal drugs in their bloodstream, regardless of whether it impaired their performance.

According to the Transport Secretary Lord Adonis, over 400 people were killed as a result of drink driving last year however this figure does not reflect any incidents where drivers were above the proposed lower limit. He also suggests drug-driving is a key concern for the public.

Sir Peter added: ”Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs still leads to a large number of deaths and serious injuries. The challenge is to see whether changes in the law and its processes can reduce casualties.”

Edmund King, president of the AA remarked that “the legal issue is more complex than the limit as a sliding scale of penalties could reduce the deterrent effect. There is a serious problem with drink drive repeat offenders with recent figures suggesting that almost a quarter of drink drivers have served a previous ban.”

However, Tony Payne, chief executive of the Federation of Licensed Victuallers Associations condemned the proposals, “We will fight this very very strongly,” he said. “This will penalise responsible people because of the behaviour of some idiots.

Thousands of motorists are prosecuted every year for a drink driving offence but the punishments for speeding are far less despite it causing a significantly higher number of deaths each year.

Home brewing has become a tradition, since it has been used for centuries and as it seems doesn’t intend on getting old and eventually dying.

Home brewing is a very ancient art, which has amazing traditions, that haven’t died through time. Of course home brewing may seem like something new and unknown to many of you, but you should know that there are thousands of people that still practice this art and enjoy it daily. Home brewing is the easiest way to receive top quality beverages at low prices, while making sure that the finished product will have the best qualities.

Of course it will seem easy at the beginning, but don’t be nave, thinking that everyone who had some home brewing experience can teach you the techniques needed. It is impossible to find and learn all techniques, home brewing recipes and secrets which the home brewing art provides. The first step to beginning your home brewing business is to get the basic lessons. Since it is the beginning and home brewing is easy, you will have two choices. Either a home brewer and real-life consultations or using an online website or forum to find the techniques and recipes you desire.

Home brewing is easy in the starting periods, but tends to get more difficult with the more you learn. Later you will have to find and learn many techniques and not all of them are so simple. Of course in the beginning you will find out that home brewing is quite easy. The ingredients will be simple to find and the process of brewing won’t be complex at all.

However the more you learn, the more problems with the finding of ingredients and using the proper techniques you will encounter, because the mastering of home brewing is an infinite process and there isn’t a way to learn all the techniques, recipes and secrets in just one life. This is why all of these home brewing strategies and facts are passed through families in order to preserve and improve the home brewing technique.

Home brewing is easy thanks to one thing – not only are the ingredients very easy to find, but there are also countless of various pre-made home brewing kits which you can find at your local store. These pre-made kits give you all the ingredients and instructions you require to conjure a beverage.

Of course you won’t be using those pre-prepared kits the entire time and at some point you will have to move up on the home brewing ladder and start conjuring more classy and better flavored beverages. There you will need to manually find various recipes and then go around the stores in order to find the needed ingredients. But you should know that this way of creating beverages is much more used and results in a much better taste and quality than the use of pre-made kits.

You can find all of these recipes and techniques very easily online, however, if you want to become an amazing home brewer, who can deliver only high quality beverages, than you should consider having an appointment at a professional home brewer who is teaching lessons. This way you will be able to find many interesting things and secrets about home brewing.

As you can see home brewing isn’t something so hard and complex. Of course it isn’t so simple if you keep learning it for a long time, but the first steps are fairly easy and can be taken on by about anybody.

Learn more today about brewing your own beer at home, check out BrewingKB.coms’ home brewing forum for information on brewing and a great selection of homebrew recipes.

DUI means driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs. It is sometimes also called DWI and OUI. Operating a vehicle with a .08% blood alcohol level or higher is illegal in all states in the US.

A DUI sounds pretty open and closed doesn’t it…Driving Under the Influence. Pretty straight forward, right?

Let’s examine this seemingly simple definition in more detail to illustrate a few conceivable areas where well-prepared lawyer can attack a DUI charge.

Driving Requirement

The requirement of operating or driving suggests that the driver must have some sort of control or command of the vehicle. Guilt or innocence may hang on whether the defendant was actually “driving” in a particular circumstance. What if she or he was just sitting behind the wheel of a car but the motor was off? What if the defendant was sleeping there? What if the keys were in the defendant’s trouser pocket and not in the ignition? What if that automobile was out of gas and could not be started? What if the automobile was idling? What if it was being towed? Courts all around the nation have considered various scenarios to determine whether the necessary control over the vehicle was present and the outcomes vary state to state and by the individual context. Vehicle Requirement Vans, trucks and cars are quite obviously considered to be vehicles for drunk-driving law purposes. However, people have been convicted of drunk driving while operating motorboats, mopeds, dirt bikes, snowmobiles, electric wheelchairs, golf carts, bicycles and ATVs, although the types of vehicles contemplated differ in each state. Intoxication One way prosecutors attempt to prove driver intoxication is through scientific testing of the amount of alcohol in an individuals body, usually by analyzing the breath or blood. These tests are usually administered by a machine, such as the Breathalyzer. In every single state, a person with a blood-alcohol content over 0.08% is considered legally intoxicated.

Implied-consent laws create the legal presumption that if an individual takes advantage of the privilege of operating a vehicle, he or she automatically consents to state-administered chemical testing to determine his or her BAC. If a driver refuses to take a chemical-alcohol test, his or her license may be retracted or suspended.

Blood-alcohol concentration test results over the legal limit are usually presumed to be proof of intoxication. However, defendants may challenge the conclusiveness of the results by showing irregularities in the test administration procedure or problems with the test equipment. For example, your attorney may advise retesting of the defendant’s breath sample. She or he may be able to obtain exclusion of the original breath test results from the case or even dismissal of the case entirely.

Other types of proof that can be used by prosecuting attorneys to show intoxication include drivers’ statements, witness and police observations of behavior and driving patterns of circumstantial evidence. An example of a type of possible relevant circumstantial evidence is that a the accused, before driving, spent the afternoon at a party where drinking games were engaged in.

Police also gather important evidence of intoxication by administering standard field sobriety tests (FSTs) at the scenes of traffic stops. Common field sobriety tests include:

* Finger-to-nose test

* One-legged stand

* Walk-and-turn test

* Horizontal-gaze-nystagmus test

* Picking up coins

* Counting backwards

* Reciting the alphabet

* Throwing and/or catching a ball

Conclusion

Driving is the basis of the American style of living, permeating every activity we do. We dependon driving to get to work, to associate with friends, to run errands and to take a vacation. Licensed drivers commute juveniles, people with physical disabilities and senior citizens to important appointments and activities. A DUI conviction can bring a screeching halt to your life. If you face a plausible problem with drunk driving, a lawyer can stand up for you and help defend your interests and those of your loved ones.

If the real world is sometimes a little too much to handle or you have a competitive yet not-so-athletic group of friends, then a serious gaming session in your living room probably won’t cut it. Many people with a spare room in their house might shove a mediocre TV, an Xbox and a futon in there but why not go the extra mile, create something that you and a few buddies can shut the doors and emerge at the end of the weekend bloated on junk food and triumphant over your online adversaries.

Firstly you need to decide upon a room, not everyone has a spare room that isn’t assigned for the non-existent guests but it can be anywhere. It’s even better if it is shut off from the world; a lack of windows is a bonus and converting a loft or basement into a gaming space doesn’t impose on the rest of the house and you may even get away without anyone else knowing about it.

Clear the room out and begin to prepare it for a conversion, if you are using the basement make sure there is no damp and if it’s the loft then lay down some flooring so you don’t fall through into the bathroom. Once ready, decorate your room, white walls are best as they won’t make it feel like a small space and make you feel like a recluse. Flooring should be simple, preferably wood or laminate that is easy to clean and won’t require heaving a vacuum up some stairs.

Decorate the room in a manly fashion, movie posters and old vinyl covers and definitely none of those girly canvasses or black and white photos your other half will undoubtedly have around the house. Make sure you have the most comfortable and unique chair but ensure there is enough space for all your friends. A large L-shaped sofa will be the most efficient but a couple of sofa-beds will also mean that your friends can stay over when their wives are no longer talking to them for spending so much time at yours.

Keeping a supply of food and drink is paramount as it will ensure you practically never have to leave the room during your 72 hour Call of Duty marathon. Beer fridges are cheap and ideal, and snack food can be stored anywhere. If you can, install a toilet to really seal yourself off.

The most important thing to remember with a games room is that nobody is left game-less, try and find some old-school pinball machines, possibly a dartboard and even a snooker table if you have the room. This means that whenever people come round, they aren’t left as spectators. If you have the space, fit a bar in the corner with a couple of stools, so even when people aren’t playing anything they can be social and enjoy themselves.

Lastly you will need to splash some serious cash on gaming equipment; all the traditional games are mere child’s play compared to today’s high tech consoles. Choose one of the two leading consoles, both have their advantages and whatever you choose you will divide your friends who will have sided one way or the other with their own purchases, if you can afford it, buy both. Hook this up to a goliath of a TV, the bigger the better, full HD with all the trimmings and even consider a projector if you are in a windowless room but this will require the lights to be off. Get a beefy surround sound too, something that will make the room rumble with the sound of the online battlefield and make the rest of the household wonder what the hell is going on in there. Buy a selection of the latest multiplayer games as these won’t require six grown men watching one person repeatedly attempting to defeat the evil wizard boss on level 23. Remember to occasionally visit the outside world, with all that enjoyment in one room you might forget about the kids, your job or even sunlight.

A games room is the perfect place for all those novelty gifts and unique gifts you might get at Christmas or on birthdays.

More and more people try to homebrew alcoholic or non-alcoholic beverages in their own homes. And as in the commercial market, the beer is the most bought alcohol so in the household brewing, beer is the most brewed beverage. Of course this is due to the fact that many people choose to create a unique beer style which best fits their taste. Different beers have different beer styles and beer styles differ on the producing method and ingredients used. And from different producing methods and ingredients each beer receives a unique aroma, taste, palate and other characteristics that a good beer possesses. Palate however is the most appreciated characteristic. It basically means the feeling you get from drinking the beer, how hard it hits you and other such indications.

Of course these aren’t the only characteristics there are also other ones like bitterness, sweetness, strength and mainly the appearance, because the appearance is the first thing a customer sees in a beer. Bitterness for instance is determined by what ingredients are used and their proportions, sweetness from the amount of sugar and strength depends on the amount of fermented material and the degree of fermentation which it achieved. Under appearance we understand color, clarity, matte and aroma.

Two of the most famous styles of beer producing are the Lager and Ale. However the ale is a beverage for more strict customers who only want high quality beer. Ale beer is produced with the use of high quality yeasts that ferment at higher temperatures than those of the lager beer. At higher temperatures the yeasts will release different aromas and flavors which will give the beer a unique taste, aroma, palate and color. However the ale is more expensive, the ingredients take more time to find and the process of the brewing is more complex.

The lager beer on the other hand is the most commonly drunk beer. It is cheaper than the ale and is easier to create. The first people who started to produce lager beer lived in Central Europe. The yeasts used for the lager are of decent quality and ferment at lower temperatures and afterwards the beer is stored at 0-3C. When the second stage of storing begins the lager will clear and mellow. The cooler temperatures will increase the production of products from the herbs used thus giving a softer taste to the lager. The modern lager beer has usually a light color and is highly carbonated and many people enjoy drinking it more than ale.

An important thing that most beer producers follow, are the traditions of their ancestors. A good beer tradition results in a unique beer style and taste which makes the experience of drinking the beer even more enjoyable to the customer. Of course if you want to experiment and create a flavor for your taste, you can always try to homebrew beer. And it is your choice if you will use an already establishes beer style or try to create a new one.

For some households it has become a tradition to brew their alcoholic and not alcoholic beverages at their home. And this is not a new tradition; in fact it is rather old and dates from the past centuries. With this taken in mind we can conclude that homemade drinks are an inevitable part of every society.

For some households it has become a tradition to brew their alcoholic and not alcoholic beverages at their home. And this is not a new tradition; in fact it is rather old and dates from the past centuries. With this taken in mind we can conclude that homemade drinks are an inevitable part of every society. However different countries have written different laws regarding home brewing of non-alcoholic and alcoholic beverages. And although those laws may restrict some alcohol brewing none of them restrict the home brewing of beer. This is why mane households brew beer at their home and this allows them to create a beer that best fits their taste. During the past years more and more stores offer home brewing kits for beer which usually contain hops, yeasts, malt extract and different ingredients and herbs which change the color, aroma and taste of the beer.

Of course you are not obligated to buy those kits and you can home brew beer like our ancestors used to. Supply all your ingredients manually and separately. That way you will be able to select only ingredients of the highest quality which will produce an amazing beer style with astonishing taste, color and aroma. However this is a harder and more expensive way than just buying a home brewing kit from the shop.

Home brewing is a simple process about which you can easily find information on the internet. Home brewing is mainly used for fund saving, because it is quite cheaper to create your own beer than to buy it from stores. Of course money aren’t the only reason for home brewing some people may want to create special tastes that aren’t available for wide usage and they can achieve that by adding custom ingredients to the beer during the creation process. Another good reason is the creation of beer which has less calories than usual.

However the most interesting use of home brewed beer is for entering amateur home brewing competitions in which judges and visitors can taste your creation and rate it depending on taste, clarity, aroma, palate and others. Of course the most important characteristics are the taste, aroma and palate. Palate basically means the feeling that the beer creates in you when you drink it. Does it “dry” your mouth, does it hit you too hard and the overall feeling you get from drinking the beer.

Summing all that up we can reach to the conclusion that home brewed beer can be much better than the commercial beer sold on stores. You can set home brewed beer to your taste or needs by adding extra ingredients or just changing the way you create it. And the most important part is that you don’t need many special instruments to create home brewed beer, you can just go to the local store get a home brewing beer kit and then find a guide for home brewing. Other than that you just need items that can be easily found around the house to create the system for home brewing.

Brewing is usually complex but it’s getting easier to learn and make your own homebrew.

Above and beyond providing first-class accommodations, Swans, the Victoria BC hotel, also proudly houses Swans Buckerfields Brewery, the on-site Victoria brewery that has been crafting award winning beers since 1989. The Victoria brewery produces British-style ales as well as Canadian and German beers–all with “old world care.” Special attention is given to all aspects of the brewing process. For example, in Swans Victoria brewpub and Victoria restaurant, the beers are served at 45F to enhance the fullness of their flavours.

The Victoria brewery uses 100 percent grain mashes: only wheat and barley malts and oatmeal in one stout. The specialty malts and Swans unique strain of yeast are imported from Britain. Swans swears against using syrups, sugars, or “adjunct.” The naturally carbonated ales are left to settle at cool temperatures as opposed to filtering because filtering can also extract the awesomeness.

Buckerfields beers include such notables as the Pandora Pale Ale, Swans Oatmeal Stout, Arctic Ale, Buckerfield’s Bitter, Appleton Brown Ale, Riley’s Scotch Ale, Extra IPA, an Old Towne Bavarian Lager, and a Raspberry Ale. Swans Buckerfields Brewery has won numerous National awards for their beers, and for those interested, tours of the brewery are available. Swans also serves their house-made libations in their Victoria brewpub and Victoria restaurant, as well as selling their brews in unique 650 ml bottles at Swans Wine & Beer Shoppe. For travellers, these make wonderful souvenirs of their stay at Swans Hotel.

In addition, as would be expected from the name, Swans Wine & Beer Shoppe sells many vintages of red and white wines, with over 400 varieties from which to choose. The selections come from all over the globe, but the shoppe specializes in British Columbian and Australian wines, as well as Chilean, French, and Italian bottles. Moreover, you can purchase champagne (including Dom Perignon for the distinguishing palate) and sparkling wine to help you celebrate special occasions.

The store also carries a whopping 150 options when it comes to spirits! The shoppe is known for its vodka in particular, with 30 varieties, and the store also prides itself on a fine collection of single malt scotches. Lastly, if a buzz isn’t enough for you, and delerium is more your style, the store offers Green Tree Absinthe also called Le Fee Verte (“The Green Fairy”), which, rest assured, is legal in Canada–though not in the US!

If you are travelling to the west coast of Canada and looking for opportunities to enjoy the local libations, check out this piece on a unique Victoria BC hotel, Swans, connected to an on-site Victoria Brewery.
